Discover China, Mountain Temples & Meditation Retreat

• Day 1: Meet at Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Take flight to Beijing, switch flight from Beijing to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province. Transfer to Hotel in Downtown Chengdu. Rest.
  


• Day 2: Take a walking tour on the Jin Li Ethnic Cultural Street and visit the Wu Hou Memorial Temple. This temple was built in the honour of Zhuge Liang, the famous military and political strategist of the Shu State in the Three Kingdom period (221 - 589) in the sixth century.
  


• Day 3: Transferred by private tour bus from Chengdu to the town of Zhong Jiang up on the mountain top, meet Master Haikong at his White Tower Temple. Start a three day meditation training, teaching and retreat. Live like the monks and nuns inside the temple during the retreat time.
  


• Day 4: Continue meditation retreat.
  


• Day 5: Continue meditation retreat.
  


• Day 6: Transferred by private tour bus, visit and continue the meditation journey to another Master Haikong’s Temple - beautiful Qi Le Temple which is located inside the West Mountain Provincial Park of Nanchong City.
  


• Day 7: Meditate and receive teachings in Qi Le Temple. Back to Chengdu in the afternoon; enjoy a relaxing evening of fun at the old Shun Xing tea house. Taste various world famous Sichuan traditional food and snacks, experience the tea culture and watch "Face-Changing" - a 300 year old ancient Chinese drama art that is part of the Sichuan opera.
  


• Day 8: Go to LeShan city, Take the ferry boat to view Leshan Giant Buddha, it is a sitting statue of Maitreya Buddha. The statue was carved into the sandstone of Mount Lingyun in 713 during the Tang Dynasty (completed in 803). The Leshan Buddha Statue took more than 90 years to complete. The statue is located on the Lingyun Mountain of Leshan, measuring 233 feet in heights and is the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world.
  


• Day 9: Visit one of four Chinese Buddhist Sacred Sites, Mandela of Buddha Samantabhadra - Mountain Emei. See the sites from the Golden Summit. Located on the southwest periphery of the Sichuan Basin, Mt. Emei has derived its name from the scenery where two peaks stand facing each other resembling the delicate eyebrows of a Chinese classic beauty. It is also celebrated far and near for its fabulous scenic nature and the legendary Buddhist Mountain, 3099m above sea level. Natural splendor set off by various architectures adds charm and radiance to each other. On the Golden Summit there are spectacular displays of Sunrise, Buddhist Halo, a Sea of Cloud and the 'Sacred Lamp'.
  


• Day 10: Tour the Giant Panda Research Center and bamboo park. You will even have the opportunity to hold and photograph adorable baby Pandas. Pay a visit to Baoguang Temple and the relic center. Enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch inside the temple. In the afternoon head to Sanxindui archaeological (Three-Star Piles) museum which is recognized as one of the most important ancient remains of the Shu culture in the world for its vast size, lengthy period and enriched cultural contents.
  


• Day 11: Learn about and experience the Buddhist tea culture – Cham tea in Daci Temple. Tour Wenshu Monastery which was originally built in the 7th century, The Wenshu Temple is one of China’s oldest and best preserved Buddhist temples.
  


• Day 12: Take flight back to Beijing, and switch flight heading back to Toronto.

What's included: Costs include airfare from Toronto to China and back, transportation within China including private bus, boats and private van; all lodging (double occupancy accommodation, single room where available with $350 CND extra cost in total); study tuition; excursion and sight seeing; translation; all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), including banquets; admission charges to temples and tourist sites.

What's not included: Does not include China Visa, medical travel insurance (required), taxi or rickshaw fees for extra excursions during free time, trip cancellation insurance; excess baggage charges on airplane, laundry,or personal purchases.

Cancellation and refunds: A full refund can be made to those who cancel their tour before March 10th. After March 10th, a $500 cancellation fee will be charged.
